About the Echeveria Toscannelly

Echeveria Toscannelly is a newly cultivated variety that emerged in recent years. At first glance, its appearance bears a striking resemblance to Echeveria Chihuahuaensis, leading many to believe it's a slimmed-down version of the latter. What distinguishes Echeveria Toscannelly are its prominent leaf tips, which curl gracefully like eyelashes, lending it a distinctive look. With its compact rosette shape and the tendency for its leaf tips to blush red, this succulent displays a predominantly blue-green hue, making it an excellent choice for indoor container gardening, with minimal risk of elongation.

How to Care for Echeveria Toscannelly

Sunlight: Echeveria Toscannelly, like Echeveria Chihuahuaensis, thrives in bright indoor locations to maintain its compact form. However, for optimal aesthetics, it benefits from direct outdoor sunlight during spring and autumn. During summer, when temperatures exceed 35C (95F), provide shade from noon to afternoon to prevent sunburn.

Temperature: Echeveria Toscannelly is a low-maintenance succulent suitable for beginners, tolerating temperatures between 41F to 95F (5C to 35C). While it can withstand most regions' climates, temperatures below 0C (32F) in winter can cause leaf moisture to freeze, resulting in frost damage overnight. The plant exhibits peak coloration between 15C to 25C (59F to 77F), with significant temperature differentials in early spring and autumn aiding color development.

Watering: Due to its thick, slow-consuming leaves, adhere to a "Soak and Dry" watering schedule to prevent root issues and leaf flattening or curling.

Soil and Pot: Plant 2-inch Echeveria Toscannelly directly in well-draining succulent and cactus mix for rapid growth. Once matured to a 4-inch size, switch to a 3:7 blend of potting soil and gritty mix to enhance drainage, control growth, and promote vibrant coloring. Opt for small pots with drainage holes, roughly 1.5 times larger than the plant, and consider repotting once the succulent outgrows its container.

Propagation: Recommend propagation via beheading with mature 4-inch Echeveria Toscannelly. Using a sterilized knife, make a clean cut leaving 2-3 layers of leaves intact. Allow beheaded cuttings to callus for 5-7 days before planting in fresh soil.
